An Overview Of Adjustable Sconces

A major benefit of wall sconces is that they can be used to provide ambient lighting, task lighting, as well as accent lighting. For instance, a large sconce can be used for some or all of your ambient lighting needs, whereas bath sconces can be used for task lighting in the bathroom. However, there is yet another type that can fulfill various types of lighting needs through a single fixture itself. These are known as adjustable sconces.

Adjustable Wall SconceAs the name suggests, adjusting sconces can be adjusted so as to provide illumination wherever required. In olden days, most types of lighting options were mobile in nature such as fire torches, candles, lanterns, etc. These could thus be used wherever there was a need for maximum lighting. But in today’s times, the trend is more towards permanent lighting fixtures, which is why you need to have several lights in your home. But with adjustable sconces, you can now do away with some of these lights.

Adjustible wallsconces have arms, hinges or brackets that can be turned upwards, downwards, or even sideways if you so desire. Some sconces also have adjusting arms that can be extended out from the wall till a certain distance. These sconces thus do the work of many different types of lights such as:

  1. Up-lights: With the sconce lamp turned upwards, you can convert it into an up-light which will give you diffused lighting.
  2. Down-lights: If more bright light is required, you can turn the arm and the bulb of the sconce can be adjusted in a downward facing position. This way you can focus the light on any object or thing that you wish.
  3. Task lights: Sconces that have arms which extend from the wall can be used for this purpose. By extending the arm fully, you can use the sconce lamp as a reading lamp or for other tasks. When you have finished your work, you can simply adjust the arm back into its normal position.

Adjustable sconces can thus be used effectively for multiple lighting needs.
